Wood River Blue Pool books
This two book set feature the work of Jo Ann Walters alongside newly-commissioned texts. Wood River Blue Pool offers Walters’ portraits of women, girls and families in and around her hometown of Alton (and similar milieu stretching from Minnesota to Mississippi) in the late 1980s and 1990s, with an essay by Laura Wexler placing them in dramatic dialogue with the history of racist violence that undergirds the social landscape of these subjects’ lives. A companion text, Blue Pool Cecilia by Emma Kemp, is equal parts travelogue, true crime drama and artist’s portrait.
